In the context of the#COVID-19 pandemic, the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism#ESPEN) emphasizes the importance of nutritional status in high-risk groups, but also in people without pre-existing medical conditions. The nutritional status of a person is closely related to the strength of the immune system and thus the ability of the body to fight infections.
A stay in the intensive care unit can lead to malnutrition, with severe loss of skeletal muscle mass and function. Dr. Karavetian will show how this in turn can result in a poor quality of life, disabilities and morbidity as well as focus on the importance of routine prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of malnutrition in the management of COVID-19.
At the end, Seca is sponsoring free access to one course of ESPEN Life Long Learning (LLL) program 2021 for 30 participants!
